HSBC gets closer to business customers

With new competitors appearing in the crowded Invoice Financing marketplace, HSBC wanted to understand how small businesses - the service's target audience - select a provider. The bank asked PDD to research the issue.
Conducting in-context research with current, competitor and novice customers, PDD investigated the barriers to selection and explored how past experience might affect current decision-making. The research also uncovered the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the bank, and gained an insider's view through interviews with internal HSBC stakeholders. PDD's audit of the HSBC service continued with a more detailed examination of eight organisations representing a cross-section of the target market. PDD then mapped all of the findings into a visual action plan for HSBC to implement.

Following PDD's research and insights, HSBC redeveloped its invoice financing proposition to remain competitive within the market and to meet the needs of customers better.
