Both childbirth and age can cause female urinary incontinence as a result of weakened pelvic floor muscles. Exercise solutions using weighted inserts is a well-known effective treatment. However such products need to be sensitive to the issues of discretion, femininity and comfort.
These were the guiding factors in our semiotic analysis and visual design language work when PDD was commissioned by SSL to design the casework for their pelvic floor exercise system to be sold in pharmacies.
