Principal – Engineering Design, London

We are looking for a talented and dynamic Engineer with the technical, communication and management qualities to ensure innovative solutions, successful projects and ongoing client relations.

Summary
Leveraging your creativity, expertise and enthusiasm for design, engineering and management, you will work with our teams to develop technically challenging and innovative products from early ideas to production.
You will have a mind for engineering and product design, confidence in your own skills and sound experience of implementation into manufacture. Working in industry or consultancy, you will already be familiar managing projects and project teams. After suitable induction, development and support from our other senior staff, you will manage PDD projects as well as review the work of other teams, taking responsibility for commercial success and client relationships alongside the quality of technical design.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
• Interpret briefs, prepare proposals, plans and requirements specifications
• Resource project teams, inspire and lead staff and manage work and subcontractors to timescales and budgets
• Steer inventive, appropriate and practical technical concepts and assess feasibility
• Develop concepts into reliable and robust designs, prototypes and manage testing
• Oversee the detailing and documentation for manufacture; including engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
• Check control documents including presentations, reports and schedules
• Lead the client project relationship, communication and presentation
• Operate within the PDD quality system and the wider regulatory framework

Requirements
We are looking for a talented and dynamic Engineer with the technical, communication and management qualities to ensure innovative solutions, successful projects and ongoing client relations.

Minimum requirements include:
• 1st or 2:1 Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electronics or Aerospace Engineering or Physics
• 10-15 years’ experience in engineering design, preferably with some in consultancy and medical devices
• Proficient in 3D MCAD (Solidworks or CREO) or Electronics equivalents
• Familiar with volume manufacturing processes and materials and corresponding tolerance analysis
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
• Able to develop business relationships and ongoing work

Ideally you also have experience in the following areas:
• Structural, mechanism and fluid technology
• System level design including electronics and software integration
• Projects with significant quality & regulatory requirements
