Marble is culturally associated with tradition, luxurious taste, social status and grand interiors. This year has seen an influx of modern interpretations, introducing modern forms, fresh colours and combined with a variety of materials. Here are some that have caught our eye…

Emmanuel Babled often crafts marble to create soft, rounded and organic forms, typified in his latest limited edition creation Paso Doble. Also released this year are his Simbiosi vases for Venini (below).

Exciting mix of colours and materials in Pedrita Studio’s T table for Edition of 6, creates a vibrant twist to marble  furniture . Also showing the Edition of 6 show at Milan this year was Mateo Zorzenoni‘s Crystal Ball lights (below).

Roberts Stadler uses African marble in his ‘Exercise’ collection of tables and seating, creating sharp geometric forms that show off the grain of the material in an abstract way.

‘Grandi Bianchi’ is a collaboration between architect Bernard Dubois and architects La Ville Rayée for the Balice Hertling Gallery, Paris, giving a clean and fresh  alternative  to marble interiors.

Lastly we have a made-to-order bike stand in solid marble by Mile for LOVE ONE project. Each stand has carved slits in the stone that perfectly match and hold the user’s bike, making the trend for storing your bike in your flat a much more aesthetically special one!
