Zeus Spinal System wins Red Dot Product Design Award 2025

We are delighted to see the Zeus Spinal Thoracolumbar Screw-Rod System by Sanyou Medical, designed in collaboration with PDD, recognised with a Red Dot Product Design Award 2025 in the Medical Devices and Technology Design category.
Building on a strong design partnership, PDD supported Sanyou in shaping the Zeus system, bringing a cohesive design approach to the pedicle screw and manual surgical instruments. The project builds on a distinctive product identity and visual language that aligns with other ranges of surgical instruments previously crafted for Sanyou by the PDD team. The Zeus design combines visual clarity with technical and ergonomic refinement to support surgeons in delivering precision and care.
The Zeus system represents a breakthrough in spinal surgery technology. An advanced pedicle screw design increases insertion speed by over 50%, with a lower profile and smaller screw seat improving stability and providing greater operating access.
Hexagonal cross-section instruments enable tactile feedback, allowing intuitive handling and seamless switching between flexible and rigid grips. Smooth, rounded geometries protect tissue and support precise interventions during surgery, while satin-finished metallic surfaces reduce glare. Accented with Bordeaux red silicone, the tools create a distinctive and professional presence within the operating room.
Collaborating since 2018, Sanyou and PDD continue to demonstrate how thoughtful design and a strategic partnership can create medical solutions that are technically advanced, ergonomically intuitive, and visually distinctive — contributing to better outcomes for surgeons and patients alike.
